This is the very last newspaper printed at Burgh Quay which was home to the Irish Press Group from 1931 to 1995. On 25 May 1995 an industrial dispute brought publication of the Press titles to an end. That day’s Irish Press had already been published and that week’s Sunday Press would not be published. However, that day’s Evening Press was published and this is the very last copy of the paper that rolled off the printing presses that day. Having made the final changes to the last edition of the paper (that afternoon’s late racing results) its editor Dick O’Riordan went to the printing hall and stood by the printing press and retrieved for prosperity the very last copy of the paper to roll off the press, and, as it turned out, the very last newspaper printed at Burgh Quay.
